Rwanda Cricket Body gets new President

Musaale replaces Balaba as Rwanda Cricket Association president

On Sunday, April 25th, 2021, Stephen Musaale was elected as the new president of Rwanda Cricket Association during the Annual General Assembly which attracted representatives from all 25 clubs.

Musaale trumped incumbent Eddie Balaba Mugarura 20 to 5 votes in the race for the top seat and will now steer the ship for the next four years.

Shortly after emerging victorious, Musaale committed to work towards increasing the popularity of the sport and improving on Rwanda's performances on the international scene.

"Cricket is only what it is in Rwanda because of the commitment of our people, partners and hundreds of volunteers around the country," Musaale said.

"I am honoured to serve in this position and am committed to making cricket stronger and a game that we can all be proud of."

"I look forward to working with all of my colleagues throughout Rwanda cricket to ensure that the progress achieved thus far conrinues both on and off the field,"

In his final remarks, Balaba congratulated the new board and wished them all the best of luck for the new tenure.

  • Julius Mbaraga: Secretary General
  • Srinath Vardhineni: Treasurer
  • Sonia Uwimana: Women Representative
